Whether you decide to live on base (Knob Noster), out in town (Warrensburg), or in “the city”(Kansas City), you have pretty much everything you need in about an hours drive. Whiteman is definitely a base that will become what you make of it. Don’t be afraid to push yourself to join friends to go sledding in the winter. Or walk the farmers market on summer mornings. Maybe shopping is your jam- Kansas City has it all. Love sports? I’ve heard the KC Chiefs have a championship under their belt and everyone looks good in red. We encounter all four season here in the Midwest, which presents us with many different opportunities to stay busy and get involved.
Things to know about Whiteman Air Force Base
Each military base is truly what you make of it. Here we have learned to embrace the activities put on by the college in our town (UCM) and accepting that no matter how many times you see a B2 flying, you will still freak out (HA!) Oh and lastly, GO TAYLOR’S BOYFRIEND. I mean, go Chiefs!

We’ve come to really enjoy living here over the past few years! I love having all four seasons and being near a major city again! The people here are generally very friendly and helpful, and there is plenty of stuff to do, especially in KC. Highlights are watching the T-38s, A-10s, and B-2s fly over our house every day; visiting Powell Gardens for the Christmas lights; visiting local coffee shops and libraries; and planning adventure days into KC on the weekends!
