We could hire a babysitter, or we could call out g We could hire a babysitter, or we could call out grandma, ask a million friends for carpool support, pre-order and prep food, and hop on a 6 hr flight for some quality time🤣 This “date night” was actually to celebrate my husband’s next career post-active duty military 👨🏻‍✈️. This transition is something that felt like a far away dream when we first started our military journey. I can’t believe the things that he has accomplished this year but I’m here for whatever is to come next!✨🪩 This dress was such a vibe + I got compliments all night! I love a good trash TV binge sesh like the next pe I love a good trash TV binge sesh like the next person, but staying up late staring at my TV was wrecking my mood for the day following. I was tired, grouchy and guess what...still lonely. It took awhile but I finally realized that getting comfortable with being solo meant creating routines I enjoy and look forward to when my husband is away. It ebbs and flows with different seasons of life but mostly includes: opting for a calming tea or cocoa instead of wine, doing some extras for my skincare (e.g., my red light therapy), diving into a good fiction book, and using sleep sounds/cues to make going to bed and falling asleep feel like a therapeutic, spa experience. If you're struggling with loneliness while your partner is away, try incorporating just one thing for yourself while they're gone. Create a new normal for those windows of time that helps you grow toward the person you're striving to be.
