Life threw me a curveball eight years ago when my husband felt called to return to active duty as a Naval Chaplain. At that time, I was deep into my role as a full-time pastor in the United Methodist Church in Florida. With this sudden change, I had to reinvent myself and find a new path. Feeling frustrated and emotional, I turned to my yoga mat, where inspiration struck me: I envisioned the Pointe of Grace Project. I wanted to create healing spaces and build a supportive community, offering retreats and online yoga classes that could travel with me wherever life took us.
The real turning point came when I discovered a 500-hour RYT Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training course right as we landed at our first duty station. My twenties had been a journey of healing from childhood trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. This certification was my chance to help others find their own paths to recovery. And that’s how Pointe of Grace Yoga Institute was born—out of a need to transform my life and help others do the same.
Understanding Trauma-Informed Yoga
Trauma-Informed Yoga isn’t just about knowing trauma exists—it’s about crafting every part of the class to promote genuine healing. Imagine a space where every movement, every breath, is designed to make you feel safe, empowered, and part of a supportive community. That’s what Trauma-Informed Yoga is all about. We create a judgment-free zone where you can truly be yourself and start your healing journey.
