Fort Sill and the surrounding town is pretty small but it has everything you’ll need to make your house feel like home. The Wichita Mountains and the amazing wildlife you can find there (think deer, bison, elk, cows and even prairie dogs!) is always exciting no matter how many times you visit or hike in the area. The local restaurants are always delicious and the people of Oklahoma are very kind. Driving to the nearest city (Oklahoma City) is easy and has all the favorite major stores. Fort Sill has two community pools, a splash pad and many playgrounds to choose from. Keep an eye out while driving around, you may see some deer, elk or even coyote! Hawks and geese love to hang out around Fort Sill too. This post is a training post as well as artillery. Be prepared to hear big house shaking booms at all hours of the day as well as encounter basic training graduation traffic on Fridays!

Things to know about Fort Sill Post

A vigilant awareness of the weather, because the weather here can change in an instant. Definitely invest in wind proof jackets if you don’t already have any, it’s very windy! I’ve seeked out locally owned places to support the local economy. Oklahomans are very proud of their state and work hard to keep things local! Taking advantage of the amenities offered on post is a must, as this post has more than I’ve ever experienced compared to others.
