The Omaha area is amazing! We absolutely love it here, and it really is what you make it. Nebraska is Nebraska, but Omaha is bustling with activities and delicious restaurants and bars. The Henry Doorly Zoo is #1 in the Nation, the Kiewit Luminarium is the coolest science museum I’ve been to (both spots do adult nights too!) and the public schools here are great. *Most* winters aren’t nearly as bad as they are made out to be. The people are friendly, kind, and always willing to help out when you need it. There are multiple breweries, parks, and the airport is a breeze to get through, especially with TSA precheck.
Things to know about Offutt Air Force Base
Since moving back to the Midwest we have adopted the idea that there is no bad weather, only poor clothing. Spend the money on a good coat, hat, and gloves, and you will do just fine. Take the time to cherish the passing of all 4 seasons, because we truly do have all 4, and you won’t get that everywhere. Also, eat at the local restaurants! Some of the chefs here in Omaha have moved from the coasts to start their own restaurants due to lower cost of living. They are talented and it is worth the visit to many local spots.
