WHAT IS NOOM?
Noom is a health company with the mission to “help people everywhere lead healthier lives through behavior change” which is accomplished through their app. Users of the paid app subscription receive daily fun, short articles to help break unhelpful behaviors and build healthy behaviors to help users lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way (so they can leave the Noom nest and continue healthy living when they fly away). The paid app also includes access to a health coach for one on one goal setting, food/exercise/scale logging, recipes, and a group to share success/struggles/ideas.
WHAT TYPE OF CUSTOMER DOES NOOM SUPPORT?
Noom has customers all over the world with a shared goal of wanting to improve their health for good through behavior change.
MY EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH NOOM…
I have worked for Noom for about a year and a half as a virtual health coach, and it has been so wonderful. In that time, I have moved from Alabama to New Mexico, and New Mexico to North Dakota and during both of those huge cross country transitions, I did not have to worry about changing careers, quitting my job, applying for jobs, etc. (and any stress relief you can get during a move is huge!) Noom is a really supportive company that strives to “take care of each other like family while working as a high-performing team”, and that has been my experience. My supervisor was extremely flexible and assuring as my hours changed across time zones, last-minute TDY/PCS moves with time off requests and the like. Before finding Noom, I lived in a rural area and could not work in my career field. As fun as working at a family-owned winery that let me bring my dog to work was (it was SO fun), bank accounts were tight and I didn’t have the satisfaction I do now of helping others and using my degree! I get to communicate and support Noom users all over the world, and when I train new hires I tell them “I’m really excited to see you all here. You are so lucky to be on this awesome team. I love my job and Noom- you might think they’re paying me to say that but they’re not!” Specifically, I am a group coach so in my role, I have a lot of freedom in creativity in sharing posts and images with my groups (that might be an educational post similar to their articles in the app, a team challenge, team building post, recipe share, a variety of topics), get to watch users encourage each other from all over the world, and support my users and watch their journey as they grow and improve their health one choice at a time.
